ITALIAN BRAND DATCH IMPROVES ITS LOGISTICS AND IN-STORE MANAGEMENT WITH AVERY DENNISON’S PATHFINDER

Avery Dennison‘s innovative labelling solution increases DATCH efficiency by 60% and makes the labelling process an easy task for their employees

Barcelona, 29th June, 2009 - The Italian urban fashion brand DATCH uses Pathfinder® Ultra® Platinium 6039™ from Avery Dennison, the global leader in labelling and identification solutions, to optimise its in-store management. Presently, the fashion brand, which is owned by the Italian company Rubra S.r.l., already uses 51 Pathfinder devices to carry out more than 2 million tasks per year after completely changing its logistics process. Thanks to Avery Dennison’s Pathfinder, DATCH has been able to improve pickings, incoming goods receipt and product deliveries. Additionally the point-of-sale inventory management has been improved by streamlining the entire labelling process for its goods. This is now more efficient, faster and free of errors.

After strengthening its position in the Italian market and gaining market presence in Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal and France, DATCH has decided to modernise its data identification system using the solution provided by Avery Dennison. They have chosen this solution as it offers a considerable improvement as far as practicability and control are concerned, so that any incidents can be anticipated. This was not possible before when they used a system with two terminals and a printer with adapted software.

With the new Pathfinder® Ultra® Platinium 6039™, which is the only hand-held device in the market that includes a scanner, labelling machine and data terminal, all running as a single application on Microsoft Windows® CE, the Italian company can now carry out its relabelling processes quickly, easily and without errors, thus facilitating the work of its 400 employees.

The new solution enables the Italian fashion brand’s sales clerks to identify products individually, reprint the label and apply it to the product in question within seconds. In addition, due to the easy operation of the Pathfinder Ultra Platinum 6039 and reduced processing times, the company has been able to redesign its methodology to greatly improve its efficiency.

“Since we have been using Pathfinder® Ultra® Platinium 6039™ we have increased our efficiency by about 60% and have reduced the time spent on relabelling processes. For our employees, the new solution means that they spend less time on administrative tasks and have more time available for offering a better service to our customers”, comments Andrea Pachera, Information Director at DATCH.

The Italian fashion company is planning to purchase even more Pathfinder devices, in line with its expansion plans to increase its worldwide number of stores to 150 by the year 2010.
